Mother's Day

For the second time in one week I woke up to a beautiful bouquet of flowers and sweet note from my boys. The only difference, this time there was a little gold box along side it waiting for me. Much to my surprise, Tieba bought me a pair of diamond earrings! After an emotional breakdown, I was so happy to put on my new stones and spend the day with my family.  We enjoyed a slow morning at home, went to church, and then spent the afternoon at my parents.
I of course love my new earrings, but Ezra is with out a doubt the very best present I could ask for.  His bright smile, curiosity, chubby thighs, and silly sense of humor make me the happiest I could ever hope to be!

...
This Mother's Day more than ever I had a heightened appreciation for my mom.  I am lucky to not only have her as a parent, but a best friend.  She is the most giving, nurturing, loving lady I know.

The only thing better than having her as a mom, is my Ezzy having her as a grandma!

Twenty Nine

My last twenty something, and first mom birthday was a good one to remember!

I woke up to a beautiful bouquet of flowers and sweet note from Tieba and Ezra.  Ezzy then surprised me with an hour long nap. This allowed me to shower, dry my hair, and even straighten it- a very rare occurrence. After he woke up, Kelly and her boys picked me up and took me out to a delicious lunch at Central Market.  We then retreated to her backyard and relaxed in the sun.  After a few hours, I went home to get ready for dinner with T in Seattle.  When I got to my condo I was greeted with a dress, new pair of sandals, balloons, and a plant- such a sweet surprise!  We met at Daniel's Broiler and enjoyed some time just the two of us.  On our way home we stopped by Nordstrom for a little birthday shopping trip. I couldn't find anything for myself, but of course had no problem finding some cute new suits for Ezzy.

......

Since my first year of teaching, I made it a tradition to take a personal day on my birthday (except for last year when the MSP landed on the 7th...).  I must admit that when I woke up in the morning way earlier than I wanted to be up I felt a little sorry for myself that I no longer have "personal days" to cash in.  I quickly got over it and realized just how blessed I am to have so many people that love me and who went out of their to make my day special.

Here's to my last year as a twenty something!

Cinco de Mayo

The Buehlers started a new Cinco de Mayo tradition.

Delicious food
 and relaxing in the sun!
The weather may not cooperate every year, but our appetites certainly will!  Looking forward to many more sunny days in the backyard this summer!

My Kangaroo

When Ezra was a teeny tiny I tried to put him in my Baby Bjorn and he hated it.  He would squirm, squeal, and bury his head in my chest.  There was nothing comfortable about it for either one of us. Eventually I decided that my days of lounging on the couch all day were over and if Ezzy wanted to be held at all times, he would need to join me in a front pack.  Slowly, this became his favorite place to be and my go to for getting anything done, calming Ezra down, and even putting him down for naps!

We recently upgraded to a Baby Ergo (because he is a couple pounds away from maxing out of the Baby Bjorn).  I take it with me everywhere we go and I must say, some of my favorite parts of the day are always when my little kangaroo is cuddled up close.  I plan on wearing him for as long as my back allows!

Mr. Independent

All last week Ezzy cat napped (10-15 minutes), until I had plans/obligations/somewhere I needed to be.  The minute I had to leave the house is when he decided to be in the middle of a long (one hour) nap.  It killed me every time I had to wake him up.  So much so, that after three days of this pattern I decided to cancel all plans and just stay at home.
My party animal still doesn't quite have a sleep routine.  Thankfully, I have learned to just go with the flow and not stress over it.  Unfortunately, his unpredictability makes it difficult to plan anything!

....
Once a week I tutor for a first grader in Mill Creek. Her mom watches Ezra while we read together.  It usually works out that he wakes up from a nap an hour or so before we leave and I feed him just before heading out the door. One day last week Ezra went down for a nap when he is usually waking up.  20 minutes before we needed to leave I decided to pump and he could just have a bottle once we arrived at tutoring.  Of course, mid pump he decided to wake up.  With only 10 minutes until go time, I figured I could feed him until we needed to get out the door and bring the bottle in case he got fussy.  When I unlatched him he screamed so hard you would have thought he was being bit by snakes.  I figured he would calm down and I tried to put him in his car seat.  Naturally, he only got more mad, and in haste I decided to give him the bottle while I was strapping him in.  He immediately grabbed it and was as happy as could be. One thing led to the next and he fed himself on our car ride.

Mr. Independent couldn't be happier to be in complete control of his milk.  I admittedly was a little sad.  Sometimes I want to freeze time and keep him a baby forever!

Rolly Polly

When Ezra was almost 3 months old he rolled over! I could barely believe my eyes.  I thought it was certainly a fluke, until he rolled over again and again for the next day or two.  After the day or two, he stopped rolling.  I wasn't worried about it because I knew he would eventually roll again and I honestly feel in no rush for him to be mobile!
......

Last week while Kelly took Levi to his music class, I was on twin duty with Ezzy and Troy.  While I was putting Troy to sleep (a few feet away), Ezzy hung out on his mat grunting, groaning, drooling, and ROLLING!  I could hardly believe my eyes when I turned around and he was about two feet away from where I left him!

I think the combination of a little bit of independence and looking at himself in the reflection of the glass got my rolly polly rolling! He is officially on the move and can no longer be trusted anywhere other than the ground.

... I made sure he didn't hit his head on the tile!
